Tiffin students celebrated Arbor Day in Yoctangee Park

The Tiffin 4th graders joined students from the other elementary buildings to celebrate Arbor Day in Yoctangee Park. The students learned about beekeeping and the importance of bees as pollinators. They learned about the threat the Emerald Ash Borer poses and how it harms our Ash trees. They saw a demonstration by Asplundh in removing a tree and learned about the safety equipment the employees use to stay safe. There was also a game that helped students learn about the important products and roles trees play in human life. The last station was learning about snakes in our forests in southern Ohio. After lunch students took part in planting two trees in the park and heard the mayor's proclamation of Arbor Day in Chillicothe. On the way back to school students stopped and tested the playground equipment in the park. Despite the blustery day students learned about our eco-system and had lots of fun.
