Officer Ronald Meyers, father of fourth grade student Harrison, visited Tiffin Elementary this week as a guest reader. Besides reading a wonderful story to Ms. Seidel’s fourth grade class, he shared about what it is like to be a police officer. Thank you Officer Meyers for visiting our school!

Announcing the 2013 Summer Football program for youth in grades 3rd through 8th. Camp will be held on July 30th and 31st from 6 – 8 p.m.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Tennis shoes or cleats
WEATHER: If camp is postponed due to rain, it will be completed Friday, August 1
CAMP LEADERS: Camp will be lead by CHS Varsity and Jr. High Football Coaching staff, along with past graduates and special guest speakers
SKILLS: Athletes will be trained in essential skills for both offensive and defensive play
EACH ATHLETE WILL RECEIVE A CAMP T-SHIRT AND SNACKS

Former Tiffin Elementary principal, Charles Kolb, visited this week as a guest reader for Right to Read Week. The third grade students thoroughly enjoyed the books that he read to them. Thank you, Mr. Kolb for taking time to share some wonderful books with the students!

CCSD Summer Latchkey Registration Information

We are accepting registrations for our Summer Latchkey program to be held at Mt. Logan Elementary. Registration packets are available to be picked up at your child’s latchkey site or at the Western Administration Building, (Preschool/Latchkey office), located at 235 Cherry Street. Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. We have limited openings for each grade level.
CCSD’s summer latchkey is open to all Kindergarten thru Grade 5 students in Ross County. Preschool students can attend, if they are enrolled in the CCSD or Bishop Flaget Preschool for the upcoming 2013-14 school year. If you have questions, please contact Carol Eblin at: 775-4250, Ext. 113. There is a $45.00 non-refundable activity/registration fee per child to be paid at the time of enrollment. Fees are based on time used – $55.00 per week, part-time (30 hours or less) and $95.00 per week full-time (31 hours or more).

An Evening with the Arts will showcase outstanding artwork from the 2012-2013 school year. Art viewing will be in the Chillicothe Middle/High School cafeteria from 6: 00 to 7:00 and again during intermission of Chillicothe High School’s performance of “The Wizard of Oz.” Students’ artwork will remain on display throughout the weekend performances. Art is one of the areas that makes CHS and all Chillicothe City Schools distinct throughout Ross County please plan to attend and see the amazing creativity of our students. Here’s a sample of what you can expect to see this weekend.

Make It BIG Basketball Camp is Right Around the Corner

Attention Boys — It’s time to register for Coach Meister’s Make It Big Basketball Camp! Here’s the registration form: Make It BIG TIME 2013 Boy’s Basketball Camp.
This year’s camp will be held June 24th through the 27th, and it will be $40 per camp participant. This is a grade level specific camp with grades 2 - 5 mornings: 8:30 – 12; and grades 6-9 afternoons: 1 – 4:30 each day. Coach Meister said, “Last year, in my first summer as the head coach at CHS, our camp got off to a tremendous start with 85 campers and we expect it grow this summer. Hopefully the dates fit into your summer schedule and we will have your son(s) in camp this June. If you have questions contact me without hesitation. Thanks for your support and GO CAVS!”
IMPORTANT CAMP DETAILS!!!
- Space is limited…please Register Early. Walk-ups can register – 1/2 hour before either MIBT session if space is available.
- Roll-call will begin promptly at 8:30am (session I) and at 1:00pm (session II).
- The CHS Gym opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m.-please arrange transportation accordingly.
- Staff will be available 30 minutes before/after camp for individual instruction.
- Campers are asked not to bring their own equipment. Basketballs will be provided.
- A $15.00 fee will be charged for cancellations to cover camp shirt and ball.
- Concessions will be available and a Camp Bank-Punch card will be used for snack money brought to camp. $5 cards and $10 cards can be purchased at check-in.
- Parents are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony to conclude the final day of camp…1:30am (session I ) and at 4:00pm (session II).

Chillicothe Cavaliers Head Basketball Coach, Drew Meister, brings over 16 years of camp experience to the Make It BIG TIME Basketball Camps. Coach Meister, the AP State Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010, has led teams to two District Titles, a Regional Runner-up, and a D-IV State Runner-up during his seven year career. Prior to entering the high school ranks, Meister spent eight years as an assistant at NAIA power Southern Polytechnic, Urbana University, and LaGrange College. The Make It BIG TIME camps promise to deliver high-energy instruction on the fundamentals of the game for the basketball player at every skill level. Campers leave with the tools needed to improve, and, more importantly, they know what it takes to Make It BIG TIME. Current CHS players and coaches will serve as the camp coaches, participants will work on key skills and drills for improving their abilities as basketball players, there will be individual and group instruction with daily 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 scrimmages.
On Monday, April 22nd, the CCSD Board of Education held their regulary scheduled meeting. As part of this meeting, the hosts, Tiffin’s leaders, led the Pledge of Allegiance and then explain how the Leader in Me helps inspire students to achieve at Tiffin Elementary. CHS’ honorary board member Per Petersen looks on during the board meeting as Tiffin students discussed leadership.
CCSD Announces Elementary Band and Orchestra Concert

You are all invited to the final elementary concert of the year for elementary band and orchestra students. Come check it out and support the growth of these young musicians! It starts at 7:00 in the CHS auditorium this Thursday and will last about an hour with the orchestra performing first.
