On Friday, June 7th at 5:30 pm, Adena Sports Medicine will be providing free physicals to all Chillicothe City Schools student athletes. If you would like to register your athlete for a physical, please call 740-779-7977 by May 31st to schedule an appointment. All physicals will be conducted at Adena Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at 445 Shawnee Lane, Chillicothe.

Logan leaders, but also completed a question and answer session. CMS Combines Choirs for Final Spring Concert

You are all invited to attend the CMS Spring Choral Concert this Thursday, May 23rd at 7:00pm in the CHS/CMS auditorium. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs will sing songs from a variety of genres including current popular, Broadway, folk, and gospel music. As a special treat, several members of the CHS Symphonic choir will join the CMS choirs on stage for two songs! You do not want to miss this rare opportunity to hear students in grades 6-12 synergize to create beautiful music!

Allen’s Second Graders Apply Conservation Lessons

The 2nd graders at Allen have become leaders of conservation. After reading Judy Moody Saves the World, 2nd graders held a conservation day and learned about the effects of oil spills on animals, protecting water sheds, and Earth’s layers. These conservation leaders also made beads from magazine pages and reclycled art robots. Thanks to all of our awesome volunteers that made our conservation morning possible!

CMS2 World’s Fair a Success

CMS 2 students traveled around the world with their World’s Fair event on May 16th. Their best leadership skills were present as sixteen countries were represented. Projects and presentations of traditional dances of the countries, traditional foods, drinks, and clothing with all types of arts, crafts, and information. The students did a wonderful job researching their countries and creating a group project and presentation. A good time was had by students, staff, and family: this event was held during the day and evening from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.

Students in Mrs. Clark’s 8th grade advanced reading classes participated in an essay contest sponsored by the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. The theme was “What Does the National Anthem Mean to Me?” Ben Heer’s essay was chosen as a District winner. He won $25 and will have his essay entered into the State division. Congratulations, Ben!

CMS1 HEALTH & FITNESS LEADERSHIP HOSTED A 5K FUN RUN

On Friday, May 17th, the Health & Fitness leadership group at Chillicothe Middle School hosted a 5K Fun Run/Walk. Over 300 seventh and eighth graders participated. With the help of many people, the event was a success. The first place boys’ winner was seventh grader Andrew Benson, with a time of 28:12. The second place winner was eighth grader Landen Arledge, with a time of 29:25. The first place girls’ winner was eighth grader Andrea Dennis, with a time of 32:58. The second place winner was seventh grader Jade Barnes, with a time of 35:51. Congratulations to all who participated and successfully finished the race. Worthington Elementary held their first Leadership Day on May 15^th. Over 125 guests visited the school to learn about the wonderful things the students and staff are doing this year. The guests were greeted by students from the welcome committee as they entered the building and led to our gym for the morning program. Mr. Gall, a volunteer at Worthington Elementary addressed the guests and unveiled the banner of “Excellence” that now will be displayed in our gym for all to see. Student leader Nico Cunningham served as the Master of Ceremonies along with student leaders Todd True 1st, Josh Wells 2nd, Lucas Endicott 3rd, Maxwell Lee 2^nd, Trenton Hart 3rd, Taylor Haubeil 4th, Abby Sims-Clark 3rd, CJ Wright 4^th, Faith Sparks 2nd, Hannah Barnes 5th, Abby Chidester 4^th, Kennedy Weber, Olivia Hambrick, Alexa Oney, Miranda Stanley, Anna Potter, & Ellie Cochenour, Shayla Beard, Quiyanna Anderson, Alaska Davis, & Olivia Johnson, Julia Hall 5^th, Claire Smith 4th, Dillon McClasky 4th, Miles Oyer 4th, Reese Hatfield 4th, Sarah Beck 4th, Liliauna Carver 4th, Jayvon Maughmer 5th, Drake Helton 5th, Aries Barnes 5th, Gunner Drees 5th, Sholanda Holt 5th, Parick Rourke 5^th all assisting with the program.
