Storytelling is a traditional way of passing the history of a culture from one generation to the next. Thanks to a grant Chillicothe Middle Schoolers were fortunate to participate in the Southern Ohio Arts and Storytelling Festival on September 7th. Seventh and Eighth grade students went to the auditorium to hear some of the raconteurs, while the Sixth grade students walked to the park and spent a few hours listening to six great storytellers who brought tales of Appalachia, childhood stories, and thought provoking anecdotes to life using only the teller’s voice. Our students did a great job representing our city and school system giving their attention to the stories, joining in with the story when asked, and providing their enthusiastic applause for each performer. Thank you to the Storytelling Festival for including us, and the district for allowing us this opportunity for our students.
