ACT/SAT Practice for Sophomores and Juniors

High School News, Old News No Comments

CHS Sophomores and Juniors have opportunities in October to prepare for college placement tests.  The PLAN Test (practice ACT) and the PSAT/NMSQT (practice SAT) will be offered during the school day to interested Sophomores and Juniors, respectively.

On Wednesday, October 3, Sophomores have the chance to take the PLAN Test.  In addition to helping students see what the ACT is like (types of questions, time limits, etc.), the PLAN Test also has a component that helps students match their interests to possible careers.  The cost to take the PLAN Test is $12.  Once Mrs. Elliott in the CHS Main Office receives this money, the student is registered for the test.

The PSAT/NMSQT will be given to members of the Junior class on Wednesday, October 17.  This is the practice SAT Test, but also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which could lead to major scholarship money for students who excel on it.  The cost to take the SAT is $15, also due to Mrs. Elliott in the CHS Main Office.

CHS has received only a certain number of each of these tests, so they are offered on a first-come first-served basis.  Students were informed of these tests last week and received information to take home, so registration for these tests is already underway and spots are filling quickly!   For more information about the PLAN Test, contact Mr. Hertler at ext. 2242.  Please contact Mr. Roush at ext. 2244 for more information about the PSAT/NMSQT.
