Safe Routes to School

Chillicothe City School District and Ohio Department of Transportation are hosting a parent meeting for the Safe Routes to School Travel Plan.  The meeting will review survey results from parents along with on-site evaluations conducted by ODOT in the spring of 2012.  Parent input is desired to facilitate the development of the final Safe Routes to School Travel Plan.

Chillicothe City Schools received a Safe Routes to School grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation for its four elementary buildings.  Community input helps with the development of a plan that addresses barriers that exist for students traveling to school by walking, biking, and/or students that are dropped off by personal vehicles.  The programs overall goal is to find ways to encourage walking and biking to school by removing barriers and obstacles and improving student safety.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS Cafeteria located at 381 Yoctangee Parkway.
