  • On Tuesday,  September 29th  the visiting International Multimedia Artist, Abdala Faye spoke with some of our Middle School and High School Art Students.  Mr. Faye was a visiting artist at the Parkview Gallery on Water Street.  This presentation was organized by Ms. Cory-Jones, CMS Art instructor.
  •  Mr. Faye is originally from Senegal, which is located in Western Africa. At the age of 12 he began selling his Art, at the age of 15 he had his first major show in a Gallery in Paris.  Shortly after this he moved to Paris, following the sale of all of his paintings in his Parisian show.  He has always made his living as a professional Artist, and feels very fortunate to be able to do that.

He feels part of his duty as an Artist is to give back to humanity.  He focuses on helping to encourage and train young Artists to follow their dreams.  Mr.Faye says “Art has led him places and kept him from going along the wrong path.”  He wants to “show young people there are other outlets, positive ones,  as opposed to violence.”

During his presentation, to some of our Middle School and High School Art students, the students were completely captivated not just by Mr.Faye’s Artwork, but his message as well. He has truly inspired some of our young Artists in the Chillicothe City Schools.
