Now that the 2012-2013 school year is underway, you may be wanting to explore a new educational opportunity that the Chillicothe City School District (CCSD) offers its students. One of those opportunities offered by the CCSD is an on-line educational program called the Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). VLA is an on-line educational delivery system. It offers over 80 full year and semester courses for students in grades 2-12. Each course is fully aligned to Ohio’s Academic Content Standards. VLA can be used to service any student that the CCSD building principals deem necessary.
Below you will find information links that will help parents decide if VLA is the best possible educational route for your son or daughter.
If you are interested in the VLA program offered by the CCSD, you need to contact CHS Principal Jeff Fisher by phone (740-702-2287 ext. 2122) or by email (jeff.fisher@ccsd.us) before the start of school on August 22, 2012. An instructional meeting with Mr. Fisher must be held where VLA contracts are signed, VLA courses are chosen for the 2012-2013 school year, and work/attendance expectations for the program are discussed. Any student grades 2-8 must also contact their building principal and get approval for the student to enter the VLA program instead of attending regular school.
As a district, we are confident that the aforementioned program will provide the students of the CCSD with a quality education. One way or another, students of the CCSD will learn, do their work, and attend class whether that is during the normal school day or through alternative educational opportunities like the VLA program.
