Mr. Saxton grew up attending the Chillicothe City Schools. The son of an Elementary Teacher in the system, upon graduation Mr. Saxton attended Capital University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Comprehensive Social Studies Education. In 1996 he earned a Master’s from Ohio University in Social Studies. Saxton later returned to Ohio University to earn certification in Educational Administration and also completed his Superintendent’s Licensure program at Ashland University.

Mr. Saxton taught Social Studies at Logan Elm High School for nine years. During his time at LE he coached volleyball, basketball, golf, and softball and advised several clubs including student council, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and coached the Mock Trial Team. He was hired as an Assistant Principal at Amanda-Clearcreek High School in 1998 and worked for nine years as an administrator at Amanda-Clearcreek (7 as H.S. Principal). One of his proudest accomplishments while at AC was the high school’s Excellent rating, never missing any indicators on the state report card.

Since returning home to Chillicothe in 2008, Saxton has served as the Assistant Superintendent responsible for Personnel, Curriculum, and Instruction. Mr. Saxton is married to Angie (Shoemaker) Saxton, a teacher at Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center. Mr. and Mrs. Saxton, have two children, Taylor (17) and Stephen (14).
